I don't know what's going on in my Dad's head after yesterday's AGM, but he ain't a happy chappy and he's really feeling his age.
Praying for Paradise, and all he gets is another Bible?
Can't see the goal posts any more?
the annual meeting seems to boil down to an opening talk about an "exciting new" bible museum and a closing talk about an "exciting new" new world translation.
sandwiched in between were the wt summary, a talk about indoctrinating the children fast/furious, and some "trip down memory lane.".
why would this "spiritual feast" seem to be anticlimactic?

Grey is cheap this year so it'll just be a different shade
first 30 min announcing a collection of bibles collected from r & f that is to go on display at bethel.
also accounts of how they "miraculously" received bibles that they didn't think they could get - eg.
geneva bible.. now - watchtower study review as there is no meeting tomorrow..
" ... replace an item that we were a bit iffy about... " @ 25:10
So the Bible display is not comprehensive and is 'cherry picked'. I wonder which one they were 'iffy' about? It wouldn't happen to be one that they used to support their doctrine but was from a dubious, by their definition, character, now would it?

Die, and miss out on being part of 'The Great Crowd.
there have been several posts where individuals are asking if it is possible to hack into and watch the agm as it is streamed to the conventions.
i say it is not streamed live like many are assuming, but a recorded download played for the audience.. why?
a live stream has many possible points of failure.
Talking to a Dub who is setting it up for the local KH. It is streamed. They will be getting it at 10:00 am New Zealand time.

My Parents were pissed when I didn't get baptized forty years ago. They get over it. Being an unbaptized born in is a helluva lot better than being DA or DF. Never answer her questions unless she has asked you one you want. She is the one who is preaching that she has the way to your salvation, so make her answer your question and make her feel guilty for every tactic she ever uses to weasel her way out of answering your question. If you can make it only one very important question and insist on her, (not an Elder, it must be her) answering that question, honestly, you might be able to tame the beast. It worked for me. Ask a question that sends her off to find an official answer that has never been honestly addressed by the WT and never let her change the subject by any means. The more she wants to avoid that question, the more insistent you should be that it should be answered. She has to feel guilt for avoiding the question, trying to bully you, lying, using double standards, whatever tricks she uses. She has to know that you have higher standards than her. She has to know that you do not feel guilty for not being bullied into joining a church of her choice, especially if she won't honestly discuss it's doctrines/failings/whatever. I didn't say it would be easy.
so i've been hearing a lot of good things about this book.
apparently, some of its readers were actual believing jws and it deprogrammed them.. i'm curious why they read it in the first place though, since jws are discouraged from reading anything outside their own literature.. i know a recent convert who i'd like to help.
i could buy him the book.
I'm a nevabinadub, and I've never read any of his books. I just wouldn't try to coerce anyone into reading a book I hadn't bothered to read myself.
hi all so my family had their c.a.
last weekend and my mother dropped this one on me, she'll now be treating me as a df'd person per info she received from a talk at the assembly.
apparently a fader should be treated as "bad association" given the fact they up and left the holy "truth" to splash around in vomit.. .
If you want to have any sort of half decent relationship with your fully indoctrinated family members after you leave a cult, you have to be the last to leave. If you are prepared to put up with a dysfunctional relationship, fade. They get their cult mentality from their cult leaders. The questions they ask you are rote cult questions. You have to stop playing the cult's game. Stop giving it's members the answers they expect. Stop triggering cult responses. If the litteratrash warned against listening to what you are about to say, don't say it. Get clever. Remember every warning the cult ever gave about apostates and the 'tricks' they use and use those warnings to your advantage instead of throwing yourself at the wall they have provided to protect your family from you.

Read it yourself, then ask yourself the question.
did you know you can actually download all of the wt literature?
not only that, but books that help discredit the wt, such as de cruce justus lipsus.... it would be useful to confirm it if you have any doubts that any quotes actually appeared in wt literature.
the nice part about the website is that it is a formal website hosted in the library of alexandria... so you can be sure this is legitimate material.. i have checked many of the old books by comparing them to pictures of old books in the kh and yes, they are legit.. who wants the link?.
It isn't "all" and it isn't new, but it is growing.
